Citizens and The Bury March On

WELWYN GARDEN CITY and ST MARGARETSBURY booked their places in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round but the Wembley dream is over for HERTFORD TOWN and WARE.

Goals from new signing Robbie BUCHANAN in the first half and Carl MENSAH after the break gave WELWYN GARDEN CITY a 2-0 win against Essex Senior League side Saffron Walden Town at the Isabel Hospice Stadium. Ryan REED with a double and Kyle ROBERTS were the heroes for ST MARGARETSBURY who reached the First Qualifying Round for only the second time in seven years after beating SAWBRIDGEWORTH TOWN 3-1 at Crifters. Connor CLARKE was on target for the Robins.

A goal from Aaaron Williams Bushell was enough to give Maldon & Tiptree a 1-0 win over HERTFORD in an evenly contested tie at Hertingfordbury Park. The home side had their chances David Ogbonna going close in the first half Luke Gymer pulling off a fine save from visiting keeper Ben Mcnamara and substitute Dane Batt hitting the crossbar in the second half.

WARE went behind to a bizarre own goal after 22 minutes at Canvey Island, Tobi Joseph completing a miserable seaside trip for Paul Halseys team with a second 18 minutes from time.
